We give because of Christ.
We believe that Christians should be the most generous people on the planet with their time, resources, and money. At City Church, we want to raise up a generation of radically generous believers who meet the needs of the community and support missions with fervor.
In Jesus' sermon on the mount in Matthew 6:19-21 he says:
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Jesus talks about money more than any other subject. Why? Because he knows that what we do with our money is a reflection of who we are. As we become fully devoted disciples of Christ, we give in response to who he is and what he has done for us. We don't give in order for God to bless us or because someone has told us that we must give 10%. We give because Christ gave everything for us.
"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
