Meet Kevin and Brooke Fontenot
A note from Pastor Kevin
Brooke and I always knew that we were going to plant a church, we just didn’t expect it to be in Denton and at this time in our lives. But, what I’ve learned is that the Lord’s ways are often much different than our own ways. After a series of events that began in 2018 and were confirmed in January 2019, we knew that the Lord was calling us to plant a new church in Denton.
Brooke and I have been married since January 2014 and have mostly lived in Denton since then. I first moved to Denton in 2010 and fell in love with the city. Denton is one of the most eclectic places that I have ever been to and there just isn’t anywhere else that I’d rather live.
When we first started feeling the Lord lead us to plant a church in Denton, we weren’t instantly sold on the idea. In fact, I actually started to research data to prove to the Lord that Denton didn’t need more churches. Of course that didn’t work out so well. What I found was shocking to me as Denton County has one of the lowest ratios of churches to population in the entire United States. In other words, the Lord knew exactly what he was doing!
We’re so excited to be on this journey to plant a church in Denton and know that the Lord is going to do great things. The city of Denton is filled with people that are desperate to belong to something. Why can’t that be a family called City Church?
Kevin first felt the call to pastoral ministry as a teenager while attending an evangelism conference with his youth group. Since then he has dedicated his life to helping others grow as disciples of Jesus. He holds a Bachelor's degree in pastoral ministry from Lee University. He’s an avid reader, hack woodworker, and loves music
Brooke knew that she was called to ministry in high school, but had no clue what that looked like for her. Now, she knows that calling is realized by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the community through City Church. She loves reading, singing, swimming, and lovingly making fun of Kevin.
